Kindergarten round-ups, open houses scheduled in local school districts for students enrolling in the 2021-22 school year

It’s the time of year when local elementary schools roll out the welcome mat for incoming kindergartners and their families, through open houses, school tours and registration activities.

Following is a list of kindergarten registration open houses, parent meetings and school tours planned throughout the Charlevoix-Emmet Intermediate School District’s 11 public schools and charter academies (please note: some districts require an appointment and others do not):

ANTRIM COUNTY

CENTRAL LAKE PUBLIC SCHOOLS

BEAVER ISLAND COMMUNITY SCHOOL

If your child is a prospective kindergarten student, please call the Beaver Island Community School office at (231) 448-2744 to set up an appointment to meet the staff and learn about the program.

BOYNE CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Parents/guardians will need to register for a kindergarten round-up session of their choice by filling out the pre-registration form that is available on the BCPS website, www.boyne.k12.mi.us, beginning Thursday, April 1, through April 23, 2021. If you have questions, please call (231) 439-8300.

EAST JORDAN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Enrollment is now open for the 2021-22 academic year online at www.ejps.org. After you enroll online, elementary school staff will notify you that your application has been processed.

The following items can be dropped off at the elementary office:

  1. Child’s certified birth certificate (the copy from the county, not hospital).
  2. Proof of residence in the East Jordan district (utility bill, driver’s license).
  3. Child’s most current immunization record (shot record).

For all kindergarten registrations:

Please bring proof of residency and your child’s birth certificate, immunization records and custody documentation, if applicable. If you have questions about enrolling in kindergarten or the events detailed here, please contact the specific district.

Michigan law states that for the 2021-22 school year, a child who resides in a public school district providing kindergarten may be enrolled if the child is at least 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2021. For children who will be 5 by Dec. 1, 2021, parents may enroll their child through written notification to the school district.
