Boyne City Middle School annual Career Day
Nearly 220 Boyne City Middle School students learn first-hand about possible career options, during the annual Career Day each May. The event is organized by Julie Sisson, Boyne City Middle School Counselor, and Kelly Johnson, K-12 Career/College Readiness Specialist with Charlevoix-Emmet Intermediate School District. Twelve professionals spoke to the students about their areas of career expertise. Presenters included an engineer, conservation officer with the DNR, U.S. Navy, chef, graphic designer/journalist, Realtor, photographer, occupational therapist, cosmetologist, carpenter, athletic trainer and dental hygienist. “We are so grateful to have professionals in our community volunteer their time to come in and speak with students about their careers,” Johnson said. “We know that it makes a big impact on the students to hear from those who are actively working in their fields of interest. The presenters are able to inspire the next generation of our work force, so we believe these kinds of events are very important to keep bringing into our schools.”
