Perinatal harm reduction virtual workshop taking place April 23, 2025
The Great Start Collaborative of Charlevoix, Emmet, and Northern Antrim Counties, in collaboration with District Health Department #10, is offering an online, virtual workshop on April 23, 2025, with Joelle Puccio, BSN, RN, Director of Education for the Academy of Perinatal Harm Reduction.
In their session, “Perinatal Substance Use Disorder: Harm Reduction Training,” Puccio will present two parts:
- Understanding the Evidence
- What is Perinatal Harm Reduction
The training will take place from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Registration is required: bit.ly/4351jEU. There will not be a recording available of this live session.
Continuing education credits are available for: CNE, MiSW, CHW, MCBAP, CHES, and IBCLC, at no cost to participants.
In coordination with this training, the Academy of Perinatal Harm Reduction is working to create a Michigan-specific “Pregnancy and Substance Use: A Harm Reduction Toolkit.” This toolkit, developed with input from individuals with lived experience, will be available in late spring to early summer 2025, said GSC Director Savanah Cool.
This program is supported by the Michigan Health Endowment, the Great Start Collaborative of Charlevoix, Emmet, & Northern Antrim Counties, and Molina Healthcare. The Michigan-specific “Pregnancy and Substance Use: A Harm Reduction Toolkit” is supported by Community Recovery Alliance. Financial support was initially provided from Hestia Women’s Giving Circle for an in-person training held on March 11, and due to high demand, this online training option was added.
