Live Well, Lead Strong
This training will consist of three half-day sessions.
Please note: Session 3 – March 13, 2024 – RESCHEDULED with extended time, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Session 1 – Who We Are is How We Lead: The Number One Factor in Skillful Leadership
Leaders will explore their own personal leadership formation and be able to focus on their guiding principles and values. They will examine their own trustworthiness through a self-assessment, and will be equipped with trust-building resources and protocols for their own team. We’ll examine the “culture of brave” and the importance of leaders cultivating that. Research on how leaders can build and repair trust when it’s broken will be offered. Leaders will have time in this session to reflect and leave with a plan to apply their learning.
Session 2 – Putting Your Values Into Action: Nurturing Strong Teams and Growing Your People Through Effective Feedback
Leaders will learn the power of both effective encouraging feedback and constructive feedback, and learn several strategies for planning and offering feedback that will impact performance. Examples, sentence stems, and responses to team members will be offered and leaders will be equipped with ideas for managing resistance or negativity. Leaders will have an opportunity to plan to transfer and apply their learning to their own organization.
Session 3 – Planning and Holding Difficult Conversations
At times leaders are compelled to hold more formal, high stakes difficult conversations due to the serious or chronic nature of behavior or attitudes. In this session, we’ll examine a protocol for planning those conversations. Examples from schools will be offered and participants will have an opportunity to surface their own needs to hold these conversations. Role playing and practicing will help the leaders be ready to transfer this learning when needed to their own courageous leadership practice.
