CPI Refresher/Initial: Nonviolent Crisis Intervention 2025-26
CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) is a training program designed to equip staff with skills to prevent and manage challenging behaviors in crisis situations. It emphasizes proactive responses, de-escalation techniques, and safe disengagements, with the goal of using physical interventions as a last resort. This training meets a portion of the requirements for key identified personnel, as required by the Michigan Department of Education Policy for the Emergency Use of Seclusion and Restraint.
This is a combined training, available to those needing an initial, as well as a refresher. Those choosing Initial certification will need to complete virtual modules. Modules (2 hours) will be asynchronous, provided through an email link, 7-10 days prior to in-person training. (Must be completed prior to in-person training.) In-person training will review concepts and provide teaching and practice of physical interventions.
This is a one day training.
