Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training gives staff the skills to recognize and respond to crises that may involve more challenging behaviors. This training is for participants, who have NOT taken Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training (NVCI) within the last two years. This training meets a portion of the requirements for key identified personnel, as required by the Michigan Department of Education’s Policy for the Emergency Use of Seclusion and Restraint.
This is a 1-day training. Choose the date that best fits your schedule.
Learner Outcomes
- Identify and know how to respond to varying levels of crisis behaviors.
- Develop limit-setting strategies to de-escalate crisis behavior.
- Understand the importance of proactive strategies to reduce crisis behavior.
- Understand the principles of Trauma Informed Care
- Understand the risks of restraints and their use only as a last resort.
- Learn safety interventions and review physical skills to maximize safety and minimize harm.
