Each June, Char-Em ISD coordinates a three-day Welding Academy for students in grades 8-11 (current school year).
Students will develop basic welding knowledge and skill application. They will participate in the creation of a team welding project and complete student-made take home projects. This interactive Welding Academy will allow students to experience first-hand what it is like to operate various equipment used in the welding industry. This will include welding power sources, grinders and manual and automated CNC plasma tables.
Transportation and cost to be determined. Cost includes breakfast, lunch and a T-shirt, plus a take-home project.
The dates for upcoming Welding Academy offerings are posted in the spring.
