Business Tours

Throughout each year, students from around Char-Em ISD tour local businesses to learn first-hand the variety of employment opportunities right here in Northern Michigan! If your business is interested in hosting a student tour, please contact Kelly Johnson at (231) 582-8070.

National Manufacturing Day

Held annually on the first Friday in October, Manufacturing Day helps show the reality of modern manufacturing careers by encouraging thousands of companies and educational institutions around the nation to open their doors to students, parents, teachers and community leaders. Char-Em ISD partners with the Northern Lakes Economic Alliance, regional chambers of commerce and manufacturers throughout Charlevoix and Emmet counties to bring students into the facilities to tour and learn about job opportunities right in their own back yard! For information about how your student or business can participate in National Manufacturing Day activities, contact Tory Thrush at (231) 582-8070.  National Manufacturing Day website

National Manufacturing Day events planned throughout Char-Em Oct. 8-10, 2019

On Oct. 8, 9 and 10, 2019, area students will have the opportunity once again to tour some of the region’s most unique, innovative and important manufacturing facilities. Tours will take place during school hours at several locations throughout Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan and Emmet counties, as well as in Onaway. Transportation to and from the manufacturing sites will be coordinated by the individual school districts.
