Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certification Training 2019-20 - BOYNE CITY EARLY CHILDHOOD
The Nonviolent Crisis Intervention program is designed to teach participants critical skills for preventing and defusing disruptive or risk behavior. It meets the State Board of Education policy on the use of seclusion and restraint, and the requirements to have staff appropriately trained in techniques when emergency restraint is required. Policy requires schools to have behavioral support systems, awareness training for all instructional staff, and comprehensive training for key identified staff.
Participants will review:
- the Crisis Development Model
- nonverbal communication
- verbal intervention
- precipitating factors, rational detachment, and integrated experience
- staff fear and anxiety
