SUMMARY:Enhancing Family Resources with HOPE and Strengthening Families
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute workshop will explore the powerful integration of two complementary frameworks: Strengthening Families and HOPE (Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences). We’ll begin by diving into the foundational research on Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) and the four building blocks of HOPE, immediately seeing their direct link to the five Strengthening Families Protective Factors. The session will provide a practical understanding of how strong, supported caregivers—who are thriving in their own protective factors—are better equipped to provide children with positive experiences. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies to enhance family resilience and immediately integrate both the Strengthening Families and HOPE frameworks into their daily work with children and families.\nLearner Outcomes\n\nIntegrate the HOPE and Strengthening Families frameworks: Apply practical strategies that intentionally connect the four building blocks of HOPE (Positive Childhood Experiences) with the five Protective Factors in their daily interactions and programming.\nIdentify and enhance Protective Factors in caregivers: Recognize signs of strength in caregivers’ Protective Factors and utilize techniques to support them in strengthening those factors, recognizing this directly enhances the quality of Positive Childhood Experiences they can provide.\nImplement actionable ways to promote PCEs and family resilience: Immediately use new information and tools to build stronger, more resilient families by enhancing Protective Factors and actively promoting Positive Childhood Experiences.\nSelf-reflect on professional role: Analyze and adjust their own practices to more effectively support families in building resilience, enhancing Protective Factors, and promoting positive experiences for children.\n\nWhole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) Tenets\nSafe, Supported, Engaged, Healthy, and Challenged\nDate\nDecember 5\nTime\n9-10:30 a.m.\nLocation\nChar-Em ISD Boyne City\nAudience\nTeachers preK-grade 5, administrators, counselors, ISD staff, paraprofessionals, support staff, community partners/agencies\nPresenter\nSavanah Cool, Director of the Great Start Collaborative\n
