DESCRIPTION:CPI: Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training 2025-26\nCPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) is a training program designed to equip staff with skills to prevent and manage challenging behaviors in crisis situations. It emphasizes proactive responses, de-escalation techniques, and safe disengagements, with the goal of using physical interventions as a last resort. This training meets a portion of the requirements for key identified personnel, as required by the Michigan Department of Education’s Policy for the Emergency Use of Seclusion and Restraint.\nThis course is for new participants, those who have a lapsed Blue Card, or those needing a refresher.\nWhole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) Tenets\nSupported, Safe\nDate: August 20\n \nTime: 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.\n \nLocation: Taylor School, Petoskey\n \nAudience: Teachers PreK – grade 12, administrators, counselors, ISD staff, paraprofessionals, support staff, community partners/agencies\n \nPresenter: Eric Daniel, Char-Em ISD Behavior Specialist\n \nLearner Outcomes\nIdentify and know how to respond to varying levels of crisis behaviors.\nDevelop limit-setting strategies to de-escalate crisis behavior.\nUnderstand the importance of proactive strategies to reduce crisis behavior.\nUnderstand the principles of Trauma Informed Care\nUnderstand the risks of restraints and their use only as a last resort.\nLearn safety interventions and physical skills, including restraint, to maximize safety and minimize harm.\n \nPending approval, State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs) will be offered for this training.
