What
is this program?
A program for students with disabilities who are expected to achieve supported independence in adulthood. Although, they require some supervision throughout their lives, they learn skills to maximize independence.
Who
do we serve?
The Supported Independence Classrooms serve students with
disabilities, age 6 through 26 who reside within the Char-Em ISD.
How
do we serve?
The
Supported Independence Classrooms provide:
- life
skills training in personal care, health, fitness, daily living, social interactions, unexpected events, time management and self determination
- group
and individual basic skills instruction in functional academics
- basic
job skills training
- supervised
work experiences
- hands-on experiences in the local community with
businesses and agencies
- individualized
computer assisted instruction
- vocational
assessment
