What
is this service?
The early childhood consultant provides information
and services to families concerned about child
development for children aged
birth to age 6. Parents may request help with
questions about parenting, child behavior and
development. Services in the areas of language
therapy, occupational therapy, and educational
programming are made available to children with
special needs.
Who
do we serve?
Early Childhood consultant services are offered to anyone
with questions concerning early childhood education
and development issues. Families with
children, birth to age 6, may receive developmental
screening and consultation. Special education
services are available when developmental impairment
interferes with learning.
How
do we serve?
Special
education teachers and therapists are members
of an early childhood team that offers early childhood consultant
services to families in our local school districts.
Family services frequently take place right in
the home. Specialists in preprimary education
may also be available as consultants to area early childhood centers, day care nurseries, and high-risk early childhood
programs.
