What
is this program?
Students in this program build knowledge in the classroom environment and develop a greater awareness of the community. Major areas of the program and curriculum include: leisure and productivity; social interactions; communication; mobility, personal care, health and safety.
Who
do we serve?
Students
with severe mental and multiple impairments
ages 6 to 26 (and their families) who reside
within the Char-Em ISD District.
How
do we serve?
This
program is designed to:
- teach
students functional independence through a
skill development curriculum
- promote
open communication among students, families
and community agencies
- advocate
for severely impaired students and encourage
placement in the "least restrictive environment"
possible
- foster
community relationships by providing experiences
within the community setting
