What
is this program?
An early childhood classroom program for children
with disabilities between the ages of 3 and
6 years old. This program is designed to help
early childhood children with disabilities develop the
skills they will need to enter kindergarten
successfully.
Who
do we serve?
Children living within
the Char-Em ISD
between the ages
of 3 and 6 years who have been formally identified
as a child with a disability.
How
do we serve?
The
Early Childhood Special Education Classrooms staff includes a special education
classroom teacher, teacher assistant, and speech
and language therapist. The staff provide:
- on-going
evaluation of each student's overall development
- progress
reports to parents
- direct
therapy to meet each child's specific needs
- an early childhood classroom environment designed to
promote growth in the areas of: communication, functional and self-care skills, learning and thinking development, social/emotional development and physical development
- opportunities
for student interaction with peers in general
education classrooms
- parental
support including information on other community
agencies and resources
- home visits or parent/teacher conferences
